 La Cervatilla - Copyright 2004 Jan Voich - Purchase online by selecting photos. La Cervatilla - The Baby Deer - Our canvas is based on - 14th century tiles from Valencia. Available very soon in two sizes this new addition to our canvases is a very - lovable - - and well known design in Spain. The Byzantine and oriental influence is well documented in the ornamentation surrounding The Baby Deer - as this is a design brought to Spain from long ago historical designs. The Iznik tiles repeat many of the traditional designs seen in this new collection we are preparing. This is a very fine example of Mudéjar style and offers an excellent example of the blend of different cultures. Our little *Bambi* is available in

Visiting his home in France 1972 - *Ville de Nice* - as well as grand admirers of his works - we have created a series of needlepoint canvases based on Matisse*s *cut outs* - performed in the final years of his life. In his last years - very ill and unable to leave his bed - Matisse painted the cut outs on the ceiling of his room. These compositions were made from shapes cut out of brightly painted drawing paper - later pasted down. A fabulous colorist - Matisse revealed the Mediterranean around him with these compositions of pure colored - brilliant design - with simple yet elegant lines. Many more to come. NOT IN STOCK.
