Samantha Taylor Kabila Needlepoint is from a North Moroccan Beach town called Kabila. The vegetation is typical of this region of the world. The town of Kabila faces Spain over the Mediterranean - very close to the Straits of Gibraltar. This area is not very tourist trodden which has protected the natural beauty of crystal clear waters and untouched beaches. Skin diving friends have found Roman urns under her coastline. On a clear day - you may view the Spanish Coastline from this African Beach Paradise. The mountain range behind Granada is a spectacular scene - as well as the Rock of Gibraltar.
If you ever plan to visit Spain - do include a few days in North Africa. This enriches your concept of the tremendous influence the Moors had in their 800 year domination of a large region of Spain. Returning to the towns of Granada and Cordoba - you will feel the Moorish Architecture blend together with what you felt and viewed in Tangiers or Casablanca.
This canvas may be worked in dimensional stitches mixing different fibers to enhance this scenes splendor. The flowers are very entertaining to interpret as is the cactus. The mixtures of so many tones of green and blue green should be worked on a small section first to insure the successful blending and shadings. This close study of natural vegetation is one that you should enjoy working.
