Samantha Taylor Needlepoint - Victorian Dolls Needlepoint - a Detailed View of Abbey - Framed for your favorite young lady - using the Scotch Stitch Background. Abbey Victorian Needlepoint is a perfect gift.

Victorian Dolls

The history of Victorian dolls is a record of civilization. A doll has not always been a plaything and in ancient times were objects of religious cults - ideals and magic images. In every era of history - the doll has been an expression and symbol of the times and trends. The oldest toy known - the doll served many different purposes - only considered a special domain of children in the last hundred years as elegant and beautiful toys.

Dressing the Victorian Lady
from the 1850's - we portray Our Abbey in this wonderful fashion - although - - she prefers the Californian style.

About The Needlepoint Scotch Stitch Background

Of all the needlepoint stitches - the Scotch Stitch is a great favorite with needle pointers because it is attractive and versatile. It may be used by itself or in combination with other needlepoint stitches to form interesting patterns. For instance the scotch square may be turned around so that it slants in four different directions - then whole thing may be bordered with a half cross stitch - or each square may be bordered with half cross stitches.

As we recommend this stitch as an interesting alternative to a plain ( rather monotonous ) cross stitch we also suggest using a frame - it is one of the greatest canvas biasers of all time. In addition to the frame - be sure you you stitch with a slightly loose tension. You are literally tying the canvas into a slanted position as you stitch - and if stitched tightly - there will be no hope of ever blocking it straight.

Please Visit - this very informative needlepoint website for more about - Needlepoint Stitches - they have excellent illustrations.
