San Sebastian - Handpainted Needlepoint Canvas - is a reproduction of the author*s oil painting of a typical port scene in any of the small fishing towns in and around San Sebastian. Many have small family owned restaurants where they serve the very fresh catch of the moment on long tables shared by different people. A social treat as well as a delicious culinary experience. The Fisherman and his family usually live on top of their restaurants in these small ports - also adding to the experience of being in an authentic family style restaurant.
Long isolated from the rest of Europe- Spain has always attracted a large following of devoted students - including ourselves - fascinated by a large country that seemed frozen in time. This historic land never ends to surprise us with its diversity of landscapes - cultures - languages and dialects.
Spanish culture has spread its influence far across the Pyrenees of the north and over the seas past America to Asia. Spanish art and music have a strong following - travelers have long marveled at the mixture of eastern and western cultures that melted into the Spanish environment.
This Painting is now available on 12 or 18 mesh Zweigart Interlock or Mono Deluxe. We have an entire series of paintings - based on this theme - which we will be adding to the page as they are finished ( adapted for needlework ).
Again - the large flat sections of color are very attractive when stitched by mixing different shades - fibers and types of stitches. A true challenge for a very advanced needlepoint artist. The finished handpainted needlepoint canvases will probably be most successful framed with a mat - although a pillow finishing would be smashing.

spent eight months stitching the Design and - created Her Masterpiece
- seen above. The mixture of fibers on an 18 count canvas - along with
her choice of colors and stitches is absolutely brilliant - note how the
ropes have been pulled out into three dimensions.
