Samantha Taylor - Needlepoint Catalog - The Hunter is from the Trades of Talavera Historical European Needlepoint Collection. This Design is available as a Kit or Canvas through Our On-line Needlepoint Catalog or from Our Needlework Shops found Worldwide

The Hunter Motif is very typical of the Trades series. A very necessary trade in those historical times without supermarkets and similar amenities. The Hunter is seen accompanied by his Hunting Dog as they pursue the trail.

Twenty different Colors are used to portray this Needlepoint Historical Scene. The Hunter´s Dog is worked in two shades of charcoal - black and white. The figure hosts the same colors as the other three Motifs. The colors are fairly true - although the yellow is paler than the photographs seen in our Web Site. This Design was stitched four times before we decided that the colors were as exact as possible to the original Seventeenth Century Tiles from Talavera de la Reina - Spain. Once content with the choice of fibers - we stitched the other designs in this collection - which we show you on these pages of Our Catalog (select links at the top of this page).

Again - The Hunter Needlepoint Figure depicts the Historical Dress Fashion - typical of that era.

Note the early morning light throughout these Four Needlework Tapestries. A subtle reference to the Trades being a full time job and starting in the early morning hours. This Design may also be finished into a pillow or cushion.

Canvas - While Designing The Hunter Needlework

We show you the designing process above - where we began with the central figure - suffering indecision on each dot of this important needlework outline. There are certain days - or - times of the day that this is very clear and we become completely absorbed. Other times - well - - we just leave it for a few days. By interspersing the colors in the sky - we successfully achieved the feel of a painted brush stroke - creating a halo effect around each figure.
